There’s nothing like putting on a warm and cozy jacket on a cool, crisp, fall day. A good jacket is essential when building a fall capsule wardrobe. And while there are plenty of jacket styles you can wear this fall and winter, I’m going to feature 3 styles in today’s post that are not only perfect for layering but won’t go out of style – so you can wear them year after year.

The 3 jacket styles I’m going to highlight will be a barn jacket, a quilted jacket, and (of course) a plaid blazer. Each of these jackets are perfect for layering because they’re lightweight, comfortable, and not bulky. Plus, they can take almost any basic outfit and add a little something extra to it. So let’s start with the barn jacket.

Barn jackets have been around for years but they’ve really taken off this fall season because of their functionality and comfort. I got this one from Old Navy and fell absolutely in love with it. Not only does it fit nicely over my clothes, it has deep pockets, a zipper closure, and snap buttons along the front. The fit is very relaxed and the hem hits nicely below the waist. This is definitely going to be a jacket I reach for all during the fall months.

A quilted jacket can be a very nice addition to your fall wardrobe because not only does it bring some style to an outfit, it’s really comfortable to wear. Similar to the barn jacket, a quilted jacket has a relaxed fit and sits just below the waist. Although it’s lightweight and breathable, it’s also well-insulated so you’ll stay nice and cozy in cooler temps without becoming overheated.

Plaid blazers are a stylish and versatile wardrobe that offer a range of benefits like versatility and timeless effort. It has the ability to transition from a casual setting to business settings seamlessly, so you never have to worry about looking unpolished. Also, because they’re so lightweight they’re perfect to layer over turtlenecks, t-shirts, and even lightweight sweaters. Plus, a plaid blazer in the fall is a dark academia dream.
