Gilmore Girls Inspired Fall Day

Hello friends! October is finally here. The most wonderful time of the year . . . or at least in my opinion – and you know what that means. It’s Gilmore Girls season.

I started rewatching my favorite TV show, Gilmore Girls, at the beginning of September and it got me thinking: why not have the perfect Gilmore Girls inspired fall day and why not share it on the blog with you? So that’s what today’s post is going to be about – how to have the perfect Gilmore Girls Inspired Fall Day. If that’s something you’re into, just keep scrolling . . .

Start Your Day with Coffee, Coffee, Coffee!

You’re not having a Gilmore Girls fall day without starting your day with a cup of piping hot coffee. In the words of Lorelai, “I can’t stop drinking the coffee. I stop drinking the coffee, I stop doing the standing and the walking and the words putting into sentence doing.” I recommend brewing yourself a nice cup of coffee before you get the day started or stopping by a coffee shop or diner and grabbing a cup to go. Lorelai and Rory would definitely approve.

Wear a Rory or Lorelai Inspired Outfit

Both Lorelai and Rory are known for their sense of style. It’s eclectic, it’s funky, and it’s evergreen. I mean, this show has been off the air since 2007 and I still find myself wanting to recreate some of the looks Lorelai and Rory wore. The easiest way to do this is by searching for inspiration pictures of some of your favorite outfits on Pinterest and then shopping your closet. There’s a pretty good chance you already have some of the pieces the Gilmore Girls tended to favor. I got this Rory inspired chunky sweater from Amazon and the jeans from Old Navy.

Go to a Small Town Festival or Outing

One of my favorite parts of Gilmore Girls is the small town of Stars Hollow. America is filled with small towns so pick one and attend a local festival or outing. My mom and I went to an Antique Car Show that was going on in the small town of Natchitoches, Louisiana. We strolled around and just enjoyed being outside. We even some live music from a local artist in the square – very Stars Hollow troubadour. The only thing missing was a stop by Luke’s Diner.

Order Lots of Chinese Food & Snacks

Chinese food and junk food is a staple at the Gilmore house so ordering takeout is a must to any Gilmore Girls inspired day. While Chinese food is absolutely delicious, you could also order a pizza, get comfy on the couch, and veg out with your favorite candy and snacks. Since this is a fall Gilmore Girls day, I think both Lorelai and Rory would approve of snacking on some Halloween candy.

Have a Lorelai Approved Movie Night

The best way to top off a Gilmore Girls fall inspired day is by having a movie night. You can actually find lists online of all the movies that were watched or even mentioned on the show like this list here. And while I would recommend choosing a film from the list, any film will do. Sit back, grab a bowl of popcorn, and there you have it – the perfect Gilmore Girls Fall Inspired Day.
