September is here and you know what that means, right? Fall is on the way. Please excuse me while I do a happy dance . . .

I love everything about fall – the clothes, the colors, the coffee, the cool weather. I could go on and on. It took all I had not to put up my fall decoration in August, but seeing as how we were experiencing temps like 106 and 109 I just couldn’t do it . . . until now. While I was getting my house autumn ready it got me thinking about some of my favorite things to watch, listen to, and do in the fall. There are several simple things you can do to make the most of the season and I’m hoping this post will inspire you to romanticize this time of year.
In today’s post I have several movies, music, TV shows, podcasts, and activity recommendations that will help you make the most of fall this year.
Movies
Practical Magic
If witchy vibes are what you crave this is the movie for you. Picture it: two witchy sisters living with their cooky, magical aunts in New England in the fall. There’s more to the story but overall this movie is perfect for a cozy, autumn night in.
The Odd Life of Timothy Green
This next film is one I don’t hear a lot of people talking about and I’m not sure why because it’s totally an autumn movie. It’s about a married couple that are unable to have children. One stormy night they decide to write down all of the characteristics that their dream child would have and then move on. But the next morning a little boy named Timothy shows up at their door. Could he be what they’ve been wishing for?
The Age of Adaline
If you’re a dark academia fan this movie is for you. Adaline was a normal woman in the 1950s, but everything changed when she got in a car accident and didn’t die. Now she’s stopped aging and has to live her life constantly on the move. But when she meets a charming philanthropist named Ellis, she realizes that some people are worth sticking around for.
New Moon
Is it even fall without Twilight? And while I highly recommend watching the entire Twilight series during this time of year, New Moon is my absolute favorite. First off, the film looks so much warmer than the first one and I was always Team Jacob. If you love love triangles and the scenic PNW you’ve got to watch (or rewatch) New Moon.
Sweet Home Alabama
Melanie Carmichael has the perfect life in New York City. She’s a fashion designer, she has an amazing boyfriend, and now she’s engaged to him. What could go wrong? Well, she’s technically still married to her high school sweetheart and she really needs a divorce. So she goes back home to Alabama and discovers that maybe her perfect life in the city isn’t as perfect as life in Sweet Home Alabama.
Hocus Pocus
This is a fall classic and for good reason. Just in case you haven’t seen it – this movie follows Max Dennison after he and his family move to Salem, MA. On Halloween night, Max unwittingly summons three witches from the grave – the Sanderson sisters – and antics ensue. If there’s one movie that will give you all the Halloween vibes without the gore this is it.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Out of all of the Harry Potter movies and books I’ve always found book 2 to be the most autumnal. I guess it’s because it has Nearly Headless Nick’s Death Day party in that book. Just in case you’ve never seen this film, it follows Harry Potter – boy wizard – as he and his friends return to Hogwarts for year 2 of their magical studies. But this year is darker than the first because the Chamber of Secrets has been opened and danger is closer than you think.
Ever After
This is my absolute favorite movie of all time and it’s ideal to watch in the fall. This Cinderella retelling is about a girl named Danielle who was forced to work as a servant in her stepmother’s house after her father’s death. Every day is full of work and strife but Danielle’s world is forever changed when she meets Henry, the prince of France who wants nothing more to run away from his royal life. As the two of them grow closer they learn that maybe there’s more to them than meets the eye.

Podcasts
I don’t know about you but I love listening to podcasts when I’m driving or just cleaning around the house. Here are a few podcast recommendations that are perfect to listen to this autumn.
I’m All In with Scott Patterson
If you’re a Gilmore Girls fan then you’ve got to listen to Scott Patterson’s I Am All In podcast. Scott played Luke on the show for seven years so he has plenty of stories from behind the scenes. But even though he starred on the show he’s never seen it so he rewatches each episode and gives his thoughts on each one.
The Murder Years
The Murder Years Podcast follows a woman named Nancy as she investigates several murders that defined her small town in the 1980s. Based on an actual town in the Midwest, Mt. Pine is a place where people used to feel safe . . . that is, until multiple murders occurred. As Nancy tries to learn the truth she realizes that she may get more than she bargained for. This true crime podcast is perfect for the spooky season.
How Rude, Tanneritos
For a more lighthearted listen definitely check out How Rude, Tanneritos. Hosted by Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber (aka Stephanie & Kimmy Gibbler), this is a rewatch podcast where Jodie and Andrea rewatch every episode of Full House. Full House is one of my comfort shows because watching it feels like wrapping up in cozy blanket.
Pod Meets World
Another comfort show for me is Boy Meets World and honestly, this podcast is as comforting as the show was. Hosted by Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong, and Will Friedle (Topanga, Shawn, & Eric) from the show, this rewatch podcast gives fans a front row seat to life on the Boy Meets World set. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, but mostly you’ll laugh because the hosts are hilarious.
All Things Cozy Podcast
This last podcast is absolutely perfect for the cozy fall time. It’s hosted by two best friends, Gillian and Matt, and they basically talk about all things cozy. From candle reviews to book reviews and everything in between. If coziness is what you seek this is the podcast for you.
