Hello friends! Today’s post is showcasing one of my absolute favorite aesthetics – cottagecore. What is cottagecore? Well, I’m glad you asked. Cottagecore is an aesthetic that idealizes and romanticizes rural life. It focuses on traditional cottage living and includes anything and everything cozy – like knitting, baking, sewing, embroidery, picking flowers, making jam, reading, drinking tea, gardening, going on picnics, and connecting with nature. Just head over to Pinterest and type in “Cottagecore” and see what images come up. Cottagecore is also known for its Hobbit/Anne of Green Gables/Little House on the Prairie-like fashion. Think smocked, floral dresses or anything plaid or denim.

Why You Should Try Cottagecore Fashion
One of the best things about Cottagecore fashion is that it’s soft and flowy, making it perfect for all kinds of body shapes. When I think of Cottagecore, I tend to think of flowy dresses ideal for twirling, straw hats, corsets, puff sleeves, denim overalls, chunky cardigans, and frilly socks. And while those items are not difficult to find, finding them in a plus or mid-size can be challenging. This is why I want to share some Cottagecore dresses that I think are perfect for spring, summer, and beyond – and what’s even better is that all of the dresses in this post are plus size and mid-size friendly!
White Floral Moment
My favorite thing about this dress is that it’s so comfortable. Because it doesn’t cling to you, it actually feels like you’re wearing a nightgown. There’s plenty of stretch, especially in the sleeves, and it also has a ruffled hemline. You can even change the way the dress looks by adding a lightweight cardigan.
Soft Lilac Button-Down Dress
This next dress is for all my soft girlies out there. The fabric it’s made of is some of the softest I’ve ever felt, making it the perfect dress for spring and summer. It’s lightweight and has gorgeous, tiny, white flowers printed all over it. This dress would be ideal to wear to a baby or wedding shower or even a brunch date.
Lovely Lace Dress
If you have a special occasion coming up soon, like maybe a graduation, I highly recommend this next dress. It’s made of white lace and has some of the most gorgeous stitching I’ve ever seen around the neckline and bodice. It also has a lovely tiered skirt and floral lace sleeves that give it that extra touch.
White and Blue Flower Gown
If you love all things white and blue, the next dress on this list is for you. This lightweight, smocked dress is covered with a variety of blue flowers and can be worn with the sleeves pulled up or rolled down. However, while I love this dress, I must let you know it has a pretty high split along the left side of the hem.
Picnic Plaid Moment
Nothing says “cottagecore” more than plaid printed dresses which is why I have to include this last dress. It comes in a variety of colors and, even better, it’s from Amazon. It has puffed sleeves that aren’t tight, an airy, tiered skirt, and a square neckline. If you’ve been looking for a plaid, smocked dress that’s plus and midsize friendly and totally affordable, this is the dress for you. When I wear it, I definitely channel my inner Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.
