If you ever get to visit Lancaster County in Pennsylvania and you need a fun, family-friendly activity to do you’ve got to check out the Strasburg Railroad in Ronks, Pennsylvania.
This 45-minute train ride takes you through the beautiful Dutch Amish countryside in a steam locomotive. You can choose to ride on America’s oldest continuously operating railroad from the President’s Car, First Class, Dining Car, Open Air Car, or Coach. We booked tickets for the First Class car because it was air conditioned. The seats were comfortable and they even had a menu where you can purchase drinks and snacks to enjoy on the ride.
We absolutely loved every minute of this experience because it allowed us to see the Amish country from a different perspective. The train doesn’t go very fast so you have the opportunity to appreciate the view and see people working the fields with old fashioned plows and horses.
