There’s nothing quite like snuggling on the couch with a warm cup of coffee or tea, wearing your favorite cozy sweater and fuzzy socks, and curled up with a good book to read in the Fall. And while spooky books are perfect to read in the Fall, sometimes you might crave just a cozy autumnal read. However, if you are in the mood for some creepy books check out my Spooky Books You Should Read this Halloween post. The Bakeshop at Pumpkin and Spice by Donna Kauffman, Kate Angell, & Allyson Charles

The first book on the list is set in the fictional little town of Moonbright, Maine. It follows three Moonbright residents who are looking for love and who just might find it. And while the story’s a bit steamier than your average Hallmark film, it has everything that your heart wants in Fall – a Halloween parade, a seasonal bakeshop, frothy pumpkin lattes, and romance.

Sunrise Cabin by Stacey Donovan

This next book is for all the Hallmark fans out there. Set in a cozy and remote cabin, the story follows Paige, a free-spirited first grade teacher intent on buying the cabin she’s been renting. Her plan seems simple enough until Dylan (an uptight investment banker) puts his own offer on the place. This is a classic “opposites attract” trope, but that’s what drew me to it in the first place. Also, because it’s published by Hallmark you can trust that it’s a sweet and wholesome story – plus there’s a recipe for Maple Pecan Streusel Muffins With Cider Glaze in the back of the book.

Be My Pumpkin (Farmer’s Market Sisters Book 5) by Elysia Strife

When Sienna’s family farm’s pumpkin patch has an unexpectedly low attendance, she pairs up with Joel, a security system installation guy, to save the farm. Together, the two of them plan a Fall festival to bring in extra customers. And while Sienna’s worried that the festival will flop, Joel’s got a secret that will not only help the festival be a success but could possibly help him win Sienna’s heart. This book is perfect for any autumn lover. I mean, it has a pumpkin patch and a Fall festival with a love story.

A Pumpkin and a Patch by Jennifer Peel

If you love romantic comedies then this is the book for you. A Pumpkin and a Patch follows a teacher named Josie whose ex-boyfriend, Reece, comes back in her life when her ex-fiancee sues her for her engagement ring. Although she tries to avoid Reece, the two of them are forced together when his daughter becomes the newest student in Josie’s class. Can these two stay at odds forever or will the pumpkin spice in the air reignite an old flame? This one is kind of steamy too but it’s also very cute – making it a perfect book to read on a cold, crisp afternoon.

Pumpkin Heads by Rainbow Rowell

This next book is actually a graphic novel and it’s jam-packed with cute, colorful, and totally autumnal illustrations. Set in the best pumpkin patch I’ve ever seen, this book is about two best friends – Deja and Josiah – who go on a hunt to find the girl of Josiah’s dreams. Because it’s their last autumn before they’re off to college, it’s Josiah’s last chance to actually speak to his crush and try and make a connection. The two friends take you on an adventure through the patch that you’ll never forget. If you love pumpkin patches and all things Fall, this is the book for you.

Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn’t it?” This is one of my favorite lines from one of my favorite literary characters – Anne Shirley Cuthbert. And if you’re a fan of Anne like me, then you will love this next book. Anne of the Island is the third book in the Anne of Green Gables series and it follows Anne as she sets off for Redmond College. With her old friend, Prissy Grant, and her new friend, Phillippa Gordon, by her side, Anne leaves her rural home of Avonlea and ventures into the big city of Kingsport, but is she ready for what lies ahead? Aside from the first book in the series, this one is one of my favorites because it takes place in autumn and it’s when Anne finally realizes that Gilbert Blythe is the man for her.

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

It wouldn’t be a cozy, autumnal reading list without at least one murder mystery. I don’t know why but the Fall time is the perfect time to pick up a murder mystery. I think it’s because night comes faster and that can help set the stage for a whodunit. If mystery is what you’re craving this Fall, look no further than the Queen of Mystery, Agatha Christie. This book is all about atmosphere – it takes place on a remote island off the coast of Devon, England in the middle of a storm. Ten strangers are invited to an isolated mansion on the island only to learn that their hosts are not coming and that they’ve all been accused or associated with murder. Trapped on the island due to the storm, the strangers decide to wait it out until morning, and that plan seems to work until they begin dying one-by-one. You’ll never believe who the killer turns out to be.
