It’s officially August 1st and that means if you live in Louisiana you’re going to experience the hottest part of summer. I always tell people who want to visit my home state to never, ever, (I repeat, ever) come in the month of August.
August is the month when we get temperatures reaching the high 90s and low 100s – but the real killer is the heat index. Just because the thermometer says it’s 96 degrees doesn’t mean that it feels like 96 degrees – try 115 degrees. And it’s usually when the temps reach these heights that I reach for face mists to help cool me off. To me, a good face mist must have 3 things in order for me to love it and consistently use it:
- A gentle mister or nozzle that doesn’t make the spray slap me in the face
- Soothing and hydrating skincare ingredients
- Little to no scent
There are a lot of face mists out there – affordable ones, high end ones, K-beauty ones – but out of all of the ones I’ve tried these 4 are my absolute favorites and I can’t wait to tell you why.
Make P:rem Comfort Me Mild Soothing Mist – $17.99
Two important substances make up Make P:rem’s Comfort Me Mild Soothing Mist – water and oil. The green part is the oily layer that consists of various plant-derived extracts and oils such as chia seed extract, green tea extract, jojoba seed oil, avocado oil, centella asiatica extract, and houttuynia cordata (Hakuna Matata 😋) extract, that help keep your skin calm and soothed. The water part consists of the moisture which helps hydrate and nourish your skin. Just shake up the bottle to get the benefits of both parts. While the spray is really nice and doesn’t have much of a smell, the nozzle is a little forceful, so be aware of that if you pick this one up.
Olay Mist Ultimate Hydrating Essence Calming Mist – $13.99
I have loved Olay skincare products for years so I was super psyched when I saw that they released face sprays a few years back. They come in a few different formulas but I find that their Calming Mist is perfect for when you’ve had a long day and your skin feels tight and dry, because it delivers a cooling effect to your skin. It’s formulated with aloe leaf and chamomile, which is rich in antioxidants, and Vitamin B3 to help give you a soft and radiant glow.
Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist – $15.00
If you’ve been through a Louisiana summer and you’ve never tried the Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist you haven’t lived. This is a lightweight mist full of amazing ingredients like hyaluronic acid, Vitamins B1, B3, and B6, and oat to soothe and moisturize. You can find this little beauty at Target so it’s totally affordable and it probably has one of the best nozzles you’ll find in an affordable face mist. If I’m going to be out in the sun for a long time this is the face mist I usually grab and pack in my purse because it cools me off every time I use it.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist – $28.00
Out of all of the face mists on this list the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Mist is my holy grail face mist. I’ve actually already done a full review of this mist and you can see that here, but I knew I had to show it some love in this post too. This face mist is as exactly as its name implies: ultra-fine. It’s formulated with 84% watermelon, hibiscus, and hyaluronic acid and it’s safe to wear before or after you’ve applied makeup. It also smells just like watermelon so it engulfs you in a watermelon fog every time you spray it, leaving your skin hydrated and refreshed.
Whether you’re experiencing scorching temps in Louisiana or another part of the world, each of these four face mists will keep you cool, refreshed, and ready to face the heat. Have you given any of these face mists a try? Do you have a favorite face mist? Let me know in the comments.
